Day by Day
Day 1 WINDHOEK CITY TO ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK

Our guide will come at your hotel at 09:00 and a short briefing after that the journey departs to Etosha national park and enjoy an optional light lunch at Otjo, before entering Etosha National Park through the Anderson Gate. We enjoy an afternoon game drive through the park visiting waterholes looking for predators as well as zebra, giraffe, elephant, rhino and many different species of antelope. We arrive at our lodge just before sunset and settle into our rooms, with en-suite bathroom and tea/coffee facilities. We highly recommend spending time at the floodlit waterhole while you will be waiting for your dinner at the lodge, sit over an open fire and an late night is recommended.

Etosha National Park
The Etosha National Park is Namibia's premier game viewing experience, situated in the north of Namibia and in the heart of the park is Etosha Pan - a chalky, white depression covering an area of 5000sq kilometres. Vegetation ranges from dense bush to open plains attracting a diversity of wildlife including one of the largest growing populations of black rhino in the world. Look out for endangered species including cheetah and lesser-known black-faced impala, along with herds of elephants, lion, hyena and leopard. Antelope species range from kudu, oryx, wildebeest and springbok - in fact there's 114 species of mammals, along with around 340 species of birds. Dry season guarantees sightings at waterholes and the main rest camps have floodlit waterholes to ensure endless viewing. Within the park are several public rest camps catering for budget to mid-range level of accommodation. There are several smaller establishments on the outskirts of the park on private land offering a more intimate and comprehensive experience. All of these establishments offer excellent value for money.

What To Pack
Tips on what to pack on your Desert Hiking and Safari Tour

1. Sunscreen
Sunscreen is a must. Put it on always during the trip. Make sure the sunscreen you bring in is non-aerosol. The bands go on later in the evening.
2. Hat
You don’t want your scalp to peel. A scalp sunburn is like the worst, ever. Bring a hat.
3. Comfortable shoes, Sand Boots can be ideal
You’re also going to be on your feet and rocking out. Also, heels are not a great idea — you’ll sink in the sand.
4. Bandana or scarf
This is my desert must. If it’s too hot, you can soak a bandana in water and put it on your neck to cool off during the day. Be aware that it gets windy in the desert and the scarf or bandana can be used as a dust mask on the paths back to the parking lots. I like the infinity scarves that can also double as a shawl if it gets too cold.
5. External battery and phone charger
Your phones are, probably going to die at Desert Trip. And you probably won’t be able to call or text or tweet once everyone is in the field. But, one way to keep your phone alive to snap photos and just in case of an emergency, is to bring along a small external battery. They’re inexpensive and will often give your phone a full charge.
6. Ear plugs
It’s going to be loud. Plan ahead and bring some ear plugs.
7. Hand sanitizer
With tens of thousands of people and walking around in a big field, you’re probably going to want this.
8. Empty Camelback or water bottle
Dehydration is serious business. Take care of yourself, especially in the heat, and bring in a bottle (up to 1ltr) to fill up with water on site. Trust me, you will want this.
9. Sweatshirt or jacket
Even with the warmer temperatures during the day, the breeze can kick in early mornings and after sundown and it can get downright cold. Be prepared with layers.
10. A good pair of Sun glasses
11. Binoculars and a camera with lots of film! For digital ensure batteries are charged- there is no electricity in the bush (we can charge via the cigarette lighter) Please bring something to cover your valuable as it gets wet during highwater seasons (December - May)
12. There will be times when you are exposed to the sun so a thin long sleeve shirt may come in handy.
13. Please attempt to travel as light as possible- space is always an issue on Full Day Safari Trip.
14. Last but not least, a sense of humour …………this is Africa!
